Hinoemata Kabuki play: an amazing local tradition, May 12, 2016 （桧枝岐歌舞伎 ２０１６年５月１２日）

This is a scene from Hinoemata Kabuki play on May 12, 2016 at a traditional Hinoemata Stage. Hinoemata Kabuki play started some 270 years ago in Edo Period. The play has been performed at Hinoemata Stage which is as old as the play. The stage had been burnt down at a big fire in the village and was rebuilt more than 100 years ago and now it is designated as a National Important Cultural Asset.
写真は、２０１６年５月１２日に檜枝岐の舞台で行われた、桧枝岐歌舞伎の１シーンです。この伝統的な村民の歌舞伎は、２７０年前から行われてきました。桧枝岐の舞台は、そのころから使われてきましたが、村の大火で焼失し、１００年以上前に、再建されました。現在は、国の重文になっています。

Photo above shows a schedule of Hinoemata Kabuki play of this year. It says two other plays are scheduled in August 18th and September 3rd. Most of the plays including today's are admitted free. All the actors are non-professional, which means they all have their own works other than a kabuki actor. But the play was attractive and satisfactory enough for visitors from across Japan.
写真には、今年の桧枝岐歌舞伎の予定が出ています。今年は、あと８月１８日と９月３日にあります。本日も含めて、多くは無料で入れます。歌舞伎役者は、村人が手弁当でやっています。しかし、その演技は、大変見応えのあるもので、全国からも集まった観客は、みな満足です。本日の役者は、千葉之家花駒座という村の歌舞伎一座（もちろん手弁当の）です。
Some other scenes of today's play are shown above. The story is about a sad story of a samurai family about 400 years ago.
上の写真は、本日の、他のシーンです。本日の演題は、矢口の渡しと言う、約４００年前の武家の悲劇にまつわる話です。

桧枝岐歌舞伎は、村と村民全員に支えられて、存続しています。写真は、合間にあった、星村長の挨拶です。（檜枝岐村の村民の姓は、ほとんど星さんと、平野さんと、橘さんです。）
