（#Ban-etsu Monogatari SL at Nigorigawa Bridge, Kitakata, July 29, 2023. #SLばんえつ物語 濁川橋梁 喜多方7/29/2023）
Today was the first day that Ban-etsu Monogatari steam locomotive event train resumed its passing on Nigorigawa Bridge over the Nigori River, Kitakata. The bridge is for JR Ban-etsu West Line train and a part of it collapsed due to a heavy rainfall last August. A bridge pier was reconstructed with a new concrete structure and some other old ones were repaired. The bridge reopened last April for local trains and this time an event train resumed its operation. Photo above shows Ban-etsu Monogatari SL train with seven special passenger cars from Yamato Station going through the bridge bound for Kitakata Station. (Nigorigawa viewpoint in the map.) A white concrete pier in the center of the bridge is the new one. A man taking photo may also be celebrating the event. Nigorigawa Bridge is located about 20-minute walk west from JR Kitakata Station.
本日は、イベント列車のSLばんえつ物語が磐越西線の濁川橋梁を再通過する記念の日です。昨年8月の豪雨で橋の一部が崩落し喜多方の濁川橋梁は不通になりました。流された橋脚１つが新たにコンクリート製で建設され、周囲の橋脚も修理され今年4月に再開通しました。山都と喜多方間の列車が安全に通行できるようになりました。SLばんえつ物語も本日から再開し、写真は7両のイベント車両をけん引して通過する様子です。橋中央の白い橋脚が新規のものです。写真を撮っている人も、再開を祝っている様子です。濁川橋梁は、JR喜多方駅から西に歩いて20分ほどにあります。

The photo shows Ban-etsu Monogatari SL return train running through a rice field from Kitakata to Yamato Station. (Rice field viewpoint in the map.) The rice field in Kitakata perfectly recovered as well from the last year’s rainfall disaster.
上は、SLばんえつ物語の帰りの列車が喜多方の田んぼの中を行く写真です。水田も豪雨から復旧し見事な緑です。

Today, Nigori River Bridge for Ban-etsu West Line train reopened. It has been closed since a part of the bridge collapsed due to a heavy rainfall last August. A bridge pier was reconstructed with a new concrete structure and some other old ones were repaired. Photo above shows a train from Yamato Station this morning running safe and stable on the repaired bridge toward Kitakata. (Viewpoint 2 in the map.) A white pier right under the train is the new one. You can see the scaffolding still remains. Nigori River Bridge is located about 20-minute walk west from JR Kitakata Station.
本日は、磐越西線の濁川橋梁が再開通する記念の日です。昨年8月の豪雨で橋の一部が崩落し不通になっていました。橋脚の１つが新たにコンクリート製で建設され、周囲の橋脚も修理されました。写真は、今朝山都駅から喜多方への列車が安全に通過する様子です。列車の真下の白い橋脚が新規です。建設用の足場も残っています。関係者全員に感謝です! 濁川橋梁は、JR喜多方駅から西に歩いて20分ほどにあります。


To commemorate this event, all the station staffs were sending off the train showing congratulation banner at Aizuwakamatsu Station. (Picture above.) 　
再開を記念して、会津若松駅では関係者総出で列車の見送りです。（写真）

On the way back to Kitakata Station I found a starting point of Nicchusen cherry blossoms street as shown above. It just barely started to bloom. The best time will be a week later onward.
喜多方駅に戻る途中、日中線桜通りの入口を見付けました。やっと開花が始まったところでした。見頃は、一週間後以降になりそうです。

（#Zazenso, Yamato, Kitakata, April 15, 2020. #ザゼンソウ 山都 喜多方 4/15/2020）
In Yamatomachi, a remote outskirt of Kitakata, you can find seasonal wild flowers here and there. Photo above was Zazenso or eastern skunk cabbage plant found near Kawairi hamlet on the foot of Mt. Iide. The plant was seen scattered in a wetland with small stream. There were not many of them. The area of habitat seemed to have shrunk from last year.
喜多方の郊外にある山都町では、春の野の花が見られます。写真は、飯豊山の麓の川入集落の近くで見付けたザゼンソウです。小川の流れている湿地に散らばっていますが、数は少ないです。自生地は、去年より小さくなっています。


Iidenoyu public inn was located about 10km apart from the small village of Kawairi. I got to Iidenoyu using Yamatomachi public demand bus service from JR Yamato Station. (I was the only passenger aboard, so I could keep enough distance with the driver easily.) Then I had to walk north from there. On the way, a part of gigantic Mount Iide appeared as shown above.
川入集落から10kmほど離れて、公共の宿「いいでの湯」があります。JR山都駅から、公共交通のデマンドバス「みんべえ号」がここまで来ています。（私の乗ったときは、1人だったのでドライバとの距離も十分取れたし換気もできました。）そこから、北に向かい歩きです。途中、写真のような飯豊山の山塊が一部見えてきます。


I returned back from Kawairi and stayed overnight at Iidenoyu public inn shown above.
本日は、川入から戻り写真のいいでの湯で1泊しました。

The next morning, I walked around the neighborhood and found some spring wild flowers on the roadside as shown below.
次の朝、近くを散策し以下の野の花を見付けました。


This was Katakuri or dogtooth violet.
カタクリ（片栗）です。


This was Kikuzakiichige or Anemone pseudoaltaica together with dogtooth violet.
キクザキイチゲ（菊咲一華）もあります。


Photo above shows Ezotanpopo or Japanese native variety of dandelion which is rare today.
写真は、エゾタンポポで、日本の在来種です。近年市街地では、ほとんど見られません。


Lastly, this was a view of Mt. Bandai in the far back and the Aga River in front from JR Yamato Station.
最後に、JR山都駅から見えた磐梯山と阿賀川の景色です。
会津富士　飯豊と競い　誇らしげ
